Bus :Pre-Exam Requirements

Name Of Applicant
A Valid Michigan Drivers license number
A Valid Michigan Commercial License Permit (Original Document Only)
Phone numbers (home, work, cell)
Be sure to study the Michigan Commercial Driver License Manual thoroughly, be sure to read sections 11, 12, 13
The applicant may use the vehicle inspection memory aid (it's on the last page of the C.D.L. Manual) during the pre-trip inspection

The exam may be terminated if any of the following discretionary safety equipment is missing or inoperative.

The following is a list of equipment that CAN NOT BE:

LOOSE, CRACKED, BROKEN, LEAKING, DAMAGED, INOPERATIVE, OR MISSING

Horn
Mirrors
Windshield: (clean, no cracks, no obstructions)
Speedometer
Safety belts for both the driver & the examiner: (safety belts for examiner not required in bus test)
Wipers/Washers
Doors
Lights
Fuel system
Safety equipment: (Spare fuses, 3 red reflective triangles, properly rates fully charged fire extinguisher)
Wheels
Tires
Lug nuts
Frame
Any suspension parts
Coupling parts
Steering parts
Brake system free of defects

A Valid Michigan Drivers license number.
A Valid Michigan Commercial License Permit (Original Document Only)
Valid proof of insurance, and vehicle registration (Look at them and be sure they have not expired)
Bring a Vehicle that is representative of the test you want to take.
The vehicle must be 'road-worthy' (one that would not automatically fail the pre-trip inspection due to faulty equipment).
If you are driving on a Temporary Instruction Permit only, you must be accompanied by a properly licensed adult both to and from the test site.

The skills tests consists of three separate tests, and they are given in the following order.
